King Willem-Alexander has not read the latest biography of his grandmother Juliana and also do not know if he’s going to do that, the king said to the Dutch media.

“I have not been at Soestdijk in the time that it played, so I’m not a primary source. I have grandparents for whom I have great respect and that respect will never go away,” said the king.

Willem-Alexander also addressed the question of why he Jolande Withuis (the author of the book)  has not given permission for research in the private archive of the Royal Family. “It’s a fact that certain relatives are still alive, so you can not open everything to everybody. It is selectively open to people who want to do research. It’s really a private archive. All matters which are relevant to the Dutch State are at the National Archives.
