Willem-Alexander Claus George Ferdinand was born on April 27, 1967, as the first child of Princess Beatrix and Prince Claus at the Academic Hospital in Utrecht.
At his birth, King Willem-Alexander received the titles Prince of the Netherlands, Prince of Orange-Nassau and the predicate Jonkheer van Amsberg.
On September 2, 1967, he was baptized in The Hague. The godparents were Prince Bernhard, Queen Margrethe of Denmark, Ferdinand von Bismarck, former Prime Minister Dr Jelle Zijlstra and Mrs Smith-Roell.
During his early childhood, King Willem-Alexander lived at The Drakensteyn Castle in the Lower Vuursche. King Willem-Alexander has two brothers, Prince Friso (1968-2013) and Prince Constantine (1969). In 1981, the family moved from Castle Drakensteyn to Palace House Bosch in The Hague.
Prince Willem-Alexander followed primary education at the Nieuwe Baarnse School in Baarn. At his high school education, the Prince began at the Baarns Lyceum.
